Wondering what to do to make your wedding extra special for your guests? Are you contemplating whether or not a photo booth is the answer? Check out his guest blog below and make sure you remember these tips to make your wedding an event that both you and your guests will remember.

The photo booth can be an overlooked addition for a wedding reception; yet more often than not it becomes the most fun and talked about aspect of the evening. Here are some key features to look for to up your photo booth game.

LOOKS

You’ve just spent thousands on flowers and centerpieces to make the room look beautiful, but what is that black shower curtain in the corner? Oh…the photo booth. Many photo booth vendors conveniently leave a picture of the booth off their websites; this is a huge red flag. Ask for photos of the actual booth that will be used at your reception. You’ll likely find three types of photo booths: the solid exterior wall fully enclosed booth, the curtain wall exterior fully enclosed booth, and the open-air booth with a free-standing backdrop.

QUALITY

Regardless of how the outside of the booth looks, possibly the most important factor in choosing a booth is what’s on the inside. How is the image quality? Again don’t hesitate to ask for actual photo samples to see how the prints look. Photo booths from years ago used web cams to shoot the photos, which was obvious by the poor image quality. In this day and age any photo booth worth hiring should be working with a DSLR camera.

SIZE

Look into how many people can fit in the photo booth you book. More often than not groups of guests will all want to pile in for some photos.

HIDDEN COSTS

If a vendor’s quote looks too good to be true, it probably is. A “base rate” can often be misleading on what you are actually getting with your rental versus what is left out. Here is a list of items that can be an additional cost in a photo booth rental and really raise the final price:

-Delivery/Travel

-Multiple photo prints/copies

-Costume props

-Photo scrapbook

-Digital copies of images

-Customization of photo strips

Really do some research on local renters and don’t pay the deposit until you’re sure it’s the booth you want.

Thanks Greg! And if a photo booth is something you want at your wedding reception, make sure you check out SNAPpodNY!

New Intern – Emily Virgil

With the summer season and the high volume of weddings and events that are to come, we are pleased to welcome our new event intern, Emily Virgil! We can’t wait to see what she can bring to the table and see her grow throughout her time here with us. To get to know Emily a little better, we asked her to answer a few questions about herself:

{1} What school are you attending? Niagara University

{2} What have you done before interning for Pauleenanne Design? Other than being a student at Niagara University, I have previously done a summer internship with the Rochester Yacht Club, as well as work as a cashier for Wegmans.

{3} What do you hope to gain from this internship? By participating in this internship, I hope to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to become successful in this industry. I look forward to learning all of the aspects that are required to properly plan and execute an event. In the end, I hope that this internship reassures my hopes to become an event planner in the future.

{4} What would be your dream event to plan? I would love to plan an elegant destination wedding. I enjoy experiencing new places and meeting new people. Any event that I have the opportunity of planning that puts a smile on my client’s faces is one that will interest me the most.

{5} Are you inspired by anyone in the events industry? I do not have a specific inspiration. I love the movie Father of the Bride and watching the wedding planner, Martin Short, plan the wedding specifically sparked my interest. In addition, I love watching events be put on and I am intrigued by every little detail that makes up an event.

{6} What is your favorite quote? I love finding different quotes. However, two that have always stood out to me are “The greatest gift you can give someone is your time.” As well as “You are more important than you realize.”

{7} If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? I would love to learn to plan an event by myself from the very beginning until the very end.

{8} Where can we find you when you’re not working? When I am not working, I am most often walking my dogs or reading a good book. I also enjoy spending my time with my family and friends participating in fun activities and doing different things.

{9} Tell us an interesting fact about yourself. I am left handed. I have a strong passion for photography. I love traveling and being near the ocean.

Welcome to the Pauleenanne Design family Emily!
