Planning the beautiful blush wedding of Nicole and James was truly a pleasure, and still brings a smile to my face today. Nicole and I attended St. John Fisher College, and even planned a Fashion Show Gala together on campus. As the past college years separated our lives, we reconnected through the Rochester Young Professionals and ended up meeting to discuss her wedding. Nicole and James are highly successful and extremely caring individuals, but their true love and friendship with one another is something every couple should strive for.
Their wedding was a black tie, outdoor affair at the Wadsworth Homestead. From the beginning, we created their signature wedding logo. This would be a fabulous focal point throughout the wedding day, starting with their save the dates, and ending with a boxed favor of goodies. The morning of the wedding, while my team set up for the event, the woman spent hours getting ready inside the mansion rooms and the men spent a carefree afternoon by the pool sharing a few beers and cannonballs. Once finally primped and dressed, Nicole and James headed downstairs to share love notes and take a few photos without seeing one another. I couldn’t help but laugh when their exchanged letters were on legal paper.
As the ceremony start time grew closer, guests entered in through the front doors. They were greeted with an heirloom trunk for placing cards and gifts, a custom mirrored program sign with their wedding logo, and the timeless beauty of the Homestead’s décor.
The ceremony took place on the porch with the guests seated along the fresh green grass of the back lawn. It was officiate by a dear friend of Nicole and James. The bridesmaids walked down the aisle to a string rendition of Somewhere Only We Know, in an assortment of blush dresses and bouquets. Nicole followed with a strapless sweetheart gown, cathedral length veil, and blush bouquet. James wore a custom made tux by Rocky’s Custom Clothes. As a suit and tuxedo connoisseur, I’m pretty sure he was more excited about his wedding wear than Nicole was about her dress. After James and Nicole gave their first kiss as husband and wife, the guests moved inside the Homestead for cocktail hour. Everyone enjoyed hand passed appetizers of assorted mini quiche, scallops wrapped in bacon, and brie with raspberry, as well as the signature drink, the VonTraylor. Bocce was also available on the lawn for guests to enjoy.
After cocktail hour, guests were guided to the reception tent and greeted by live music from Nik Lite. With a palette of blush, ivory, and white adorned with gold and silver accents, the reception space had the feel of a romantic garden. Lush florals from Arena’s Florist were placed on beautiful silver vintage cake stands and ornate silver eiffel tower stands. Linens were a beautiful white on white stripe that added a subtle texture to the table. Each seat had a satin blush napkin with a thank you note from the Bride and Groom. The guest tables were finished with beautiful silver and gold mercury glass candles.
The head table was decorated with the gorgeous bridesmaids bouquets and large pillar candles on top of a white ribbon floral linen. As the evening progressed the candles added a romantic feel to the darkening tent. Nicole and James danced to Somewhere Beyond the Sea for their first dance. Shortly after, guests were served chicken abruzzi, vegetable wellington, and bowtie Nathaniel, in a sit down meal.
Later on in the evening the Bride and Groom enjoyed answering questions from the Best Man as they played the shoe game. Guests enjoyed late night pizza from Geneseo’s famous Mama Mias, took home boxes of candy and cupcakes as favors, and danced the night away with a logo embellished dance floor. In the end, the wedding was photographed beautifully by John Schlia, capturing memories of such a beautiful day.
I will never forget Nicole and James’s gorgeous wedding. The Homestead’s historic beauty tied with all the amazing details made for a truly memorable wedding. Helping Nicole and James’s vision become a reality was sincerely a pleasure.
