Meet Nicole

We’re so excited to introduce you to the bubbly and hard working Event Intern Nicole!  She is one our our fabulous summer interns, and we are so excited to have her!  Let’s learn a little more about Nicole:
Meet NicoleEducational Background
I am a Hospitality and Service Management student concentrating in events with minors in Advertising and Public Relations, and Business Administration at RIT.

Prior Experience
I have worked in food service for a couple years at different restaurants.  After I was a server in a country club for seasonal help during the summer a few years ago.  That was my first exposure to events and made me really want to get involved.  I completed an internship in Disney World last year working in one of their Deluxe Resorts.  That experience taught me so much about work and myself.  Once I came home from Florida I began working as a guest services agent at the Hilton Garden Inn, which I’m still at currently.  I’m very excited to take on the next chapter and learn more at Pauleenanne Design!

Hopes For The Internship
Personally, I just want to learn as much as I can.  Whether it be about event preparation, execution, design, and everything in between, if I walk out at the end of the internship with knowing more then when I came in, I will have gained more then I could ever hope for.  I am a firm believer that everything in this industry is connected in one way or another, so anything new that is learned can be applied in many different areas, even if it isn’t as much in the beginning.

Favorite Thing About The Industry
My favorite thing about the event industry is watching the process unfold.  Seeing how something is created from just a thought or idea on paper to being executed is such an interesting experience.  I like how each day can be different and each task can be something completely out of the ordinary.

Favorite Quote
For quotes, while I feel like I should have one that isn’t something from a tv, One Tree Hill is my favorite show and has a quote that has a lot of meaning to me.
“There is no shame in being afraid.  Hell, we’re all afraid.  What you gotta do is figure out what you’re afraid of.  Because when you put a face on it you can beat it.  Or better yet, you can use it.”
This quote has stuck with me because I think it can apply to so much in life.  Being afraid of finishing school, starting the new job, moving out, etc. it just gives a little inspiration to using that uncertainty to make everything worth while.

Free Time Fun
In my free time I like to spend time with my family and friends.  I love going to the movies and trying new things.

Future Plans
I’m not entirely sure still where I want to be after graduation.  I hope to be doing something with events but I’m not entirely sure what or where.  I just want to keep learning and be happy.

Interesting Fact
Earlier in April, I spent a week in Dubrovnik Croatia with students in my class executing an event for the RIT Croatia alumni weekend.  We worked with students at the RIT Croatia campus and created the event from start to finish.  It was such an interesting experience working with people in another country, but seeing it unfold was very rewarding.
