We’re so excited to introduce you to the creative and delightful Graphic Design Intern Taylor!  She is one our our fabulous summer interns, and we are so excited to have her!  Let’s learn a little more about Taylor:

Graphic Design Intern

Educational Background

I graduated form Fairport High School and Finger Lakes Community College. Currently I am jumping into my junior year for a bachelors in graphic design at Rochester Institute of Technology.

Prior Experience
I have been working for Wegmans Food Market since 2014 and have had no prior internship experience. Wegmans has given me the opportunity to work with customers and build leadership skills. I work in the prepared food area, which helps build multitasking skills. All of the skills I learn at Wegmans I feel helps for the professional aspect for this internship.

Hopes For The Internship
From this internship I hope to gain knowledge on how to interact with customers and how to meet fast paced deadlines. I am very excited to see what projects I will be able to work with! This will be a great experience to get my feet wet as a graphic designer in the business realm.

Favorite Thing About The Industry
In this industry I love the fun and fresh designing! I can’t wait to work more with the style and aesthetic of this industry. I also love working with a team and the team members apart of this industry are very lively and outgoing!

Favorite Quote
“It’s through mistakes that you can actually grow. You have to get bad in order to get good.” – Paula Scher

Free Time Fun
In my free time I love to run, practice yoga, read, and binge Netflix shows. Being outdoors is one of my favorite things to do in my free time. This can include hiking, camping, or relaxing at the lake.

Future Plans
For the future I am hoping to work with a company in the graphic design department. I know I don’t have the best ideas possible. It’s others around me that see what I can’t see when working on projects. My goal is to have a fun job that I love doing everyday with a supportive team to help me out.

Interesting Fact
This coming October of 2017 I will be having a baby and starting an amazing family.

Meet Emily

We’re so excited to introduce you to the polished and diligent Event Intern Emily!  She is one our our fabulous summer interns, and we are so excited to have her!  Let’s learn a little more about Emily:

Event InternEducational Background
I grew up in Westwood, New Jersey. I attended the local public high school and graduated in 2014. I currently attend RIT where I am studying Communication with minors in both American Sign Language and History. I will be graduating from RIT in December. Last summer I took studied abroad in London, England. While there I took a class that focused on the history of London. One day we would learn about the history of London and the next day we would go out and see it firsthand. It was an incredible experience and I am very fortunate to have had that opportunity.

Prior Experience
This is my first internship experience. My first job was in my hometown, I worked for a small paper and gift boutique called You’re So Invited! This is where I was first exposed to the industry because I worked with invitations. Before I started attending RIT I volunteered as a camp counselor at Hope with Heart. Hope with Heart is a camp for kids with heart defects that gives them the opportunity to be a normal kid for a week. It was always one of the best weeks of the summer. While attending RIT I hold three different jobs throughout the school year. I am a special project student worker in the student services office of the College of Liberal Arts. This will be my fourth year working there and I am lucky to have the opportunity to learn more about the college. I am a Lead Peer Advisor for the freshman seminar class called Year One. This is a great opportunity for me to become a mentor for many students which is one of my favorite things to do because of how rewarding it is. Last August I began my job as a Resident Advisor. This is an incredible opportunity that has helped me to develop and grow professionally. I also love the opportunity to work and learn from other people. Starting in August I will be a Global Village RA and I am eager to start a position with greater responsibility.

Hopes For The Internship
I hope to learn new skills that will relate to an event career as well as tricks that I can apply to my life in general. I think that learning is one of the most important things that one can do, I want to challenge myself to learn as much as I can from this opportunity. Through hands on activities I can understand the industry even better.

Favorite Thing About The Industry

This industry has so many qualities to love. My personal favorite is working with people and getting the satisfaction of knowing that you made their dreams a reality. With every task that is completed, you are one step closer to achieving that dream and that is not something that every industry gets the opportunity to accomplish.

Favorite Quote
My favorite quote is, “It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed.” – Theodore Roosevelt, he is my favorite President which makes the quote even more special to me.

Free Time Fun
I love to spend time with people in my free time. I like exploring and finding new things to do, or new things to learn. I love to travel but I am not spontaneous with my actions which is why I am a big planner.  I am always trying to better myself as a person so free time is something that should be used wisely.

Future Plans
I recently took and passed the GRE and I am very excited about it. I intend on attending graduate school but I am still open to what my future has to offer. I have so many passions in life that I hope I can experience as many as them as I can within my life.

Interesting Fact
Some interesting facts about me are that I have traveled to over 10 other countries in the last 10 years of my life. I also try to find the best qualities of those in my life and make sure they know what makes them so special. It is a small way that I use my people skills to help those around me because I believe everyone should be valued.

Meet Nicole

Meet Nicole
We’re so excited to introduce you to the bubbly and hard working Event Intern Nicole!  She is one our our fabulous summer interns, and we are so excited to have her!  Let’s learn a little more about Nicole:
Meet NicoleEducational Background
I am a Hospitality and Service Management student concentrating in events with minors in Advertising and Public Relations, and Business Administration at RIT.

Prior Experience
I have worked in food service for a couple years at different restaurants.  After I was a server in a country club for seasonal help during the summer a few years ago.  That was my first exposure to events and made me really want to get involved.  I completed an internship in Disney World last year working in one of their Deluxe Resorts.  That experience taught me so much about work and myself.  Once I came home from Florida I began working as a guest services agent at the Hilton Garden Inn, which I’m still at currently.  I’m very excited to take on the next chapter and learn more at Pauleenanne Design!

Hopes For The Internship
Personally, I just want to learn as much as I can.  Whether it be about event preparation, execution, design, and everything in between, if I walk out at the end of the internship with knowing more then when I came in, I will have gained more then I could ever hope for.  I am a firm believer that everything in this industry is connected in one way or another, so anything new that is learned can be applied in many different areas, even if it isn’t as much in the beginning.

Favorite Thing About The Industry
My favorite thing about the event industry is watching the process unfold.  Seeing how something is created from just a thought or idea on paper to being executed is such an interesting experience.  I like how each day can be different and each task can be something completely out of the ordinary.

Favorite Quote
For quotes, while I feel like I should have one that isn’t something from a tv, One Tree Hill is my favorite show and has a quote that has a lot of meaning to me.
“There is no shame in being afraid.  Hell, we’re all afraid.  What you gotta do is figure out what you’re afraid of.  Because when you put a face on it you can beat it.  Or better yet, you can use it.”
This quote has stuck with me because I think it can apply to so much in life.  Being afraid of finishing school, starting the new job, moving out, etc. it just gives a little inspiration to using that uncertainty to make everything worth while.

Free Time Fun
In my free time I like to spend time with my family and friends.  I love going to the movies and trying new things.

Future Plans
I’m not entirely sure still where I want to be after graduation.  I hope to be doing something with events but I’m not entirely sure what or where.  I just want to keep learning and be happy.

Interesting Fact
Earlier in April, I spent a week in Dubrovnik Croatia with students in my class executing an event for the RIT Croatia alumni weekend.  We worked with students at the RIT Croatia campus and created the event from start to finish.  It was such an interesting experience working with people in another country, but seeing it unfold was very rewarding.
